Station Commander
SFC Dan Carr is the Station Commander at AFN Wiesbaden. He hails from New Smyrna Beach, Florida and entered the Army as a Fire Support Specialist for the Field Artillery in 1994. After initial training and Jump School, he was assigned to the 18th Field Artillery Brigade (Airborne), 18th ABN Corps Artillery at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. He cross-trained into Broadcast Journalism in 1998. SFC Carr comes to AFN-Wiesbaden after serving with the 10th Combat Aviation brigade, 10th Mountain Division, as the BDE Public Affairs Operations NCOIC. He recently deployed with the 10th CAB in support of OIF from Oct 09- to Oct 10.
Prior to that SFC Carr has served as a Defense Information School Sr. Broadcast Skills Instructor at Ft. Meade, MD, AFN-Aviano News NCOIC, AFKN-Taegue Radio NCOIC and with the 82nd ABN DIV Public Affairs Office at Ft. Bragg, NC. His Schools include the Fire Support Specialist Course (Distinguished Honor Graduate, Master Blaster) at Ft Sill, OK., Jump School at Ft Benning, GA., PLDC and Combat Life Saver Course at Ft Bragg, NC., Basic Broadcaster Course, BNCOC and Instructor Training Course at Ft Meade, MD., and the Equal Opportunity Representative Course at COB Speicher, Iraq, 25th INF DIV. His Awards include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Accommodation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal and Humanitarian Service Medal. SFC Carr holds an Associate of Science Degree in Theatre Art from The Florida School of the Arts. He is currently working on his Bachelors Degree in Sports Management (Coaching). In his spare time SFC Carr has managed to coach Semi-Pro football for the past 9 years in Korea, Italy, Maryland and New York and is currently helping out with the Wiesbaden High School Football Team. He is married to Kimberly Hasty and has two beautiful girls, Maddison (12) and Delaney (9).
